Thursday was a witness to a series of mixed performances on the wooden floor. It was a combination of nerve- racking and “walk in the park” encounters. Every game had an eye catching peculiarity, which left the spectators thoroughly entertained. The badminton court displayed an array of skillful and clever play, with tinges of triumph and disappointment.
The writing was always on the wall for the first match between Yusuf b.s. bin Mukarram b.s. and the undisputed champion M. Taher Shk Najmuddin Haji. Against all odds bhaisaheb came out with a whole hearted and brave reply, but eventually loosing to the tournament's favourite classy racket work.
Abduttayeb bin Lamak b.s. and M Mustafa Surendranagarwala battled away, raising the hype and had the passing crowd stop and admire them fighting it out. It was a neck to neck tussle, but Abduttayab bhaisaheb's power packed smashes proved fatal for the Surendranagar lad. The final score was (21-17). The evening ended with a cracker of a game, between M. Qutubkhan M. Shabbir and M. Taher Shk Murtaza, both known for their spontaneous retorts, but this time it was the rackets doing the talking. The mercury kept rising between them, with neither of the two willing to step off the court until the other had knelt down in defeat. Eventually, Qutubkhan bhai emerged triumphant, with a closing score of 21-19/ 22-20.
The flame of Qutub's quest for the title still flickers! All the best !!
